University of Washington in Seattle is a recognized leader in medical technology, bioengineering, nuclear engineering, aerospace engineering, oceanography, fisheries and forestry. Its library collection of five million volumes is the largest and most comprehensive in the Pacific Northwest. UW receives more federal funding for research programs than any public university in the U.S., and its graduate programs in the biological sciences rank among the top five nationally. Seattle University offers masters degrees in software engineering and business administration. Seattle Pacific University offers the only masters degree program in entrepreneurship north of Los Angeles and west of Cleveland, and has a respected Small Business Institute. Washington State University located in Pullman, a five-hour drive from Seattle has the state's only college of agriculture, and the Pacific Northwest's only college of veterinary medicine. Computer technology, biotechnology and medical technology programs are offered at all two-year community colleges and technical institutes in the state. Primary and secondary education is available through 300 local public school districts and numerous private schools located throughout the state.
