WA BioEvolution Poster Released

June 30, 2008, SEATTLE, WASHINGTON – "Washington BioEvolution," a genealogy poster that that illustrates the "technology origins" of the more than 250 biotechnology and medical device firms that comprise the industry in the state of Washington, was unveiled today by Info.Resource, Inc., owner and publisher of WaBio.com.

"Washington State is one of the leading life science development centers in the U.S. and I believe that industry, academia and government need to understand the technology origins that led to this national position so that we can continue to provide stewardship for further growth and economic development," said Phil Ness, President & CEO of Info.Resource.

The Washington BioEvolution poster is based on phone interviews with company and non-profit organization representatives, and depicts the origins of a company's "founding" technology and technology licensing relationships with the state's universities and non-profit research organizations -- the economic engines supporting innovative research and development.

Since 1980, these research universities and non-profit organizations have attracted over $32 billion into Washington State -- mostly federal research and training money focused on health science- and environmental-related basic research -- $2.4 billion in 2007 alone.

The Washington BioEvolution poster is sponsored by Alexandria Real Estate Equities, Advanced Technology Construction, Axio Research, BioLife Solutions, Economic Development For Central Oregon, Gilead Sciences, Ikaria, Lease Crutcher Lewis, Perkins Coie, Ratner BioMedical Group, SABArchtiects, Technical Safety Services, The Blume Company, the Washington Biotechnology & Biomedical Association, and others.

Info.Resource is a Seattle based company that owns and publishes a specialized national network of biotechnology, medical device and life science state-based web sites.

Info.Resource owns and publishes WaBio.com in collaboration with the Washington Biotechnology & Biomedical Association.

WaBio.com is the leading resource for company management, investors, job seekers, patients, educators, and others wanting up-to-date information about biotechnology and medical technology in the state of Washington.
